A Practical Roadmap to Organizing and Managing the Special Ed Classroom, Peter Vincent, 9781685153816

Description

This book is designed and aimed at providing some practical strategies for the classroom organization, management, and teacher preparedness in an All-Inclusive classroom, including Specialized Academic Instruction. Oftentimes, a new teacher is presented with a classroom that they must organize and set up independently. These strategies of classroom organization and management may be valuable tools for the general education teacher with special needs students in the Inclusion Classroom setting. This handbook may also provide additional supplemental materials and strategies in teacher education and training programs. Recognizing that each teacher has their own personal style and ideas for their classes, the aim of this book is to give you, the reader, tips to help streamline your classroom procedures and IEP (Individualized Educational Plan) organization. Both Mrs. Bhattacharjee and Mrs. Fleck have worked in many General Ed and Special Ed settings. Throughout their careers they have mentored new teachers. They have observed the struggles that student and intern teachers face. Among those struggles are classroom management and organization. Mrs. Bhattacharjee and Mrs. Fleck have enjoyed their years as Special Ed teachers. However, during their years of active teaching and mentoring, they had realized that it would be advantageous to have a handbook of practical strategies for classroom management and organization. This book is an attempt to include some of the applications that have worked for both veteran teachers in different classroom settings. They have collaborated to provide this practical handbook for new teachers. Mrs. Bhattacharjee and Mrs. Fleck hope that the strategies and practices included in this handbook will make the new teacher’s journey meaningful and less stressful. The following are some of the classrooms’ tested guidelines that have assisted these veteran teachers over their teaching profession; however, they have needed timely revision based on classroom and student needs.
