A Study of Computer Software in Secondary School Mathematics, Deanne Howell, 9783659218958

Description

This study is carried out to investigate the availability, use and effect of computer software in secondary school mathematics in Oyo State, Nigeria. One hundred students were randomly selected and twenty teahers were also chosen from the selected schools for this study.This study reveals that use of computer software will enhance the performance of the students in mathematics and also shows that students that are exposed to the use of computer software will perform significantly those exposed to the conventional method of teaching. The majority of teachers surveyed have access to computers at home that they use in relation to their teaching of mathematics. Some students are keen to use computer software in learning mathematics but for the fact that some schools have no computer laboratories let alone having adequate computer systems.This study recommend that teachers should introduce strategies for motivating students to learn and this can be best done by using computer software.
