Description
Adult education is an unfamiliar and low-priority sideline for too many educational institutions. It’s something to “put on” and “offer”, for a season. It must conform to a rigid time schedule and take place in buildings created for other activities, such as child and adolescent schooling. Adult learners are excluded from the entire planning process as a matter of course. They are so far removed from the centre of planning adult education that the failures are predictable. After recounting some of the failures, this volume suggests better ways of approaching adult education, approaches that actually work.
