Developmental Co-ordination Disorder, is a condition commonly associated with childhood. However, its manifestations change over time leaving many to continue to have difficulty with everyday living skills in adult life. Research also suggests that the impact of these difficulties over time results in increased risk of mental health problems. Up to 10 per cent of the population are affected by DCD, some 2-4 per cent severely. However, there is very little awareness and recognition of this condition in adults amongst relevant professionals. This book is therefore aimed at raising awareness amongst those who work in health, education, social and employment services and who are likely to meet adults with DCD. The book explores the developmental course of DCD, issues around assessment, remediation and functional implications for the individual. It also offers practical strategies and resources for professionals in the field.
