Emma Turner has worked both full and part-time as class teacher, assistant head, deputy head and formed one of the UK’s first all-female co-headships which ran for eight years. She currently works part-time for Discovery Schools Academy Trust, where she is Research and CPD lead, and Affinity Teaching School Alliance, where she writes and delivers training, specializing in training for early career teachers. She is the founder of NewEd – Joyful CPD for early career teachers, a columnist for Tes, Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching, Ambassador for the Gender Equality Collective and is also an active member of the WomenEd community. Emma is a passionate advocate of balance in leadership and family life; during her 8 years as a co-head, she had three babies in five years and now is a regular speaker at events across the country about how part time leadership and approaches to flexible working can be a hugely successful model in organizations. Emma is the author of Be More Toddler, the co-host of John Catt’s ‘Mind the Gap’ podcast and videocast and also the self-titled ‘Chaos Coordinator’ of her three small children at home in Leicestershire.
