“Dyslexia” is divided into six easy-to-read, free-standing chapters. You can dip into any one of them, without having to read the others first. Chapter 1 explores our understanding of dyslexia, looking at current thinking and research. Chapter 2 gives some ideas of the signs and symptoms to watch for when deciding whether to refer a child for further investigation. The following three chapters are setting-based, discussing practical ways of helping and supporting the child, their carers, and of working with other professionals. The final chapter gives the contact details of useful resources for both the practitioner and the child’s family. Throughout the book there are case studies to illustrate points being made, and Pause for Thought sections which pose an issue for professionals to ponder in terms of their own practice.
