For over twenty years, she has taught intercessory prayer and prayer literacy classes in denominational, non-denominational, and inter-denominational churches in the San Francisco-Bay Area, and throughout California. Beverly earned B.A. and M.A. degrees in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, and received an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities from Pnuema Theological Seminary for serving over thirty-five years in Urban Ministry. She currently teaches Sociology at Laney College in Oakland, California and has taught Urban Studies, Sociology, and Christian Education at the Oakland School of Urban Mission. She recently authored “Building Mind, Body, and Spirit,” a biblically-based sports curriculum designed to build confidence, character, and compassion in youth. As an educator, trainer, and curriculum development specialist, Dr. West has developed curricula and educational materials for local churches and ministries, as well as the San Francisco Unified School District, The I Have a Dream Foundation, YouthBuild USA, About My Father’s Business Ministry, and Our Youth Matter (OYM). Monique Morton, and her husband Kwanza Morton, are two of the founders of About My Father’s Business Ministry, a non-profit organization that teaches and trains on prayer and intercession. She is the author of Restorer of the Breach Taking Back our Cities for Jesus. She is a graduate of San Francisco State University in San Francisco, California where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice, and a ministerial certificate, with emphasis in Urban Ministry from the School of Urban Mission in Oakland, California, and an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Pneuma Theological Seminary in Oakland, California. She also has twenty years of community service experience in the Oceanview Merced Height Ingleside Community of San Francisco, California.
