Related title “The Hundred Pound School” was originally written in 1992 to celebrate the tercentenary of Richard Durning’s Endowed School, a rural primary school at Bispham, near Ormskirk, Lancashire, UK. The book was an important part of a year of celebrations. This edition has been written with the children in mind and brings the story up to the present (2016). It attempts to show readers that the building they work and play in and around contains many clues about the history of the school and its foundation. A fun quiz on aspects of the building is included. The wealth of written records both at Lancashire Archives and in the school itself is also discussed. The book is aimed at children aged eleven and over but will be of interest to anyone connected with the school. Above all it is hoped that the book will be a treasured souvenir of a child’s time at this unique school.
